The FBI’s Crime Data Explorer is the primary portal for Uniform Crime Reporting Program data, covering reported violent and property crime, arrests and law enforcement employment figures from thousands of agencies nationwide. Since 2021, that data has been drawn from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), which captures incident-level detail — including weapon type, victim-offender relationships and offense characteristics — rather than the aggregate monthly totals collected under the FBI’s older Summary Reporting System. Data can be explored by agency, state or year and downloaded in CSV format, making it a foundational source for local and national crime-trend reporting.
