The National Police Index from the Invisible Institute provides state data regarding police employment history. The purpose of this dataset is to track “wandering officers”. The data is sorted by state, and can then be filtered by name, date or agency. Each officer is listed with their UID, agency and start/end date. There are over one million officers catalogued in this system. One limitation of this data is that only 24 states allow this information to be released.
