One of the earliest crowdsourced databases tracking deaths during interactions with police in the United States, Fatal Encounters compiles records on shootings, restraint deaths, pursuits and other fatal encounters, with coverage extending further back than most comparable trackers. It’s frequently used alongside Mapping Police Violence and Washington Post data to cross-validate figures, since each database uses a somewhat different methodology and scope.
